EpiGeneSys Final Meeting in Paris
Thursday 11 February 2016 – Saturday 13 February 2016
Location : Maison des océans – Paris
Final Meeting in Paris a great success – and the adventure continues!
More than 280 scientists attended the fifth Annual Meeting of EpiGeneSys, which took place in Paris from 11th to 13thFebruary 2016. The conference kicked off with a talk by coordinator Geneviève Almouzni, Director of the Research Center at the Institut Curie, highlighting the achievements of the network over more than five years. The programme featured 27 research talks in seven sessions, following the research themes of EpiGeneSys, plus keynote talks by Leonid Mirny (MIT) and Eileen Furlong (EMBL, Heidelberg). The scientific talks were complemented by reports on accompanying activities such as the RISE1 (Research Integrating Systems biology and Epigenetics) programme for young PIs, the training activities, and the public science efforts of the network.
An eighth session presented possible future outlooks and directions for the project, and informed those present about international research programmes in epigenomics and nucleome organisation in 4D. One exciting announcement was that although this was the final meeting for EpiGeneSys as an official EC project, the EpiGeneSys community will live on, with the continuation of the website and a meeting next year!
