Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Epigenetics and Immuno-Oncology to join Professor Udo Oppermann in the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences, based in the Botnar Research Centre, University of Oxford.

You will join an interdisciplinary team of scientists and clinical researchers working in the field of epigenetics, inflammation and cancer. You will participate in a project that will identify and characterise novel epigenetic mechanisms and investigate their role in driving inflammation and controlling the microenvironment and cancer niches. Main duties will include conducting experiments that aim to identify, map and characterise chromatin and DNA modifications and analyse epigenetic modifiers controlling cancer and immune cell functions. You will also take responsibility for the planning and execution of high quality research, as well as maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all findings.

You will have a PhD (or near completion) in biochemistry or molecular biology, ideally in the field of immune or cancer biology. You will have documented expertise in NGS-type of data processing and analysis and will have capacity to deliver high quality research outputs (publications in peer-reviewed journals, and invitations to speak at national and international conferences). Experience in immunoprecipitation techniques is essential, as is experience in cell culture techniques. Knowledge of protein chemistry and stem cell biology would be desirable, as would experience of working in a University environment.

This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 2 years in the first instance, with possible extension.
