Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
Description
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher position in the lab of Ann Ehrenhofer-Murray, starting in fall 2016. The successful candidate will conduct competitive research on chromatin regulation and epigenetics in Saccharomyces cerevisiae with a particular focus on the biochemistry of heterochromatin and the binding of heterochromatin components to the nucleosome. The project will employ biochemistry and structural biology in combination with molecular genetics to characterize repressed chromatin. The position also entails undergraduate teaching in genetics, molecular biology and epigenetics.
The group employs molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry and genomics to study epigenetics and gene silencing in yeast. The group is located at the Humboldt-University in central Berlin.
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a PhD degree or equivalent in Biology, Biochemistry or a related discipline and have demonstrated experience in biochemistry and structural biology. They should have at least one first author paper in an international peer-reviewed journal and an excellent command of written and spoken English. Knowledge in chromatin and epigenetics is a plus. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, creative and self-driven.
