Description

Applications are invited for the position of postdoctoral research associate at UCL Cancer Institute, London, UK working within the research team of Dr. Steen Ooi. The laboratory focuses on understanding the nature and mechanisms regulating epigenetic information in mammalian cells, with an emphasis on DNA methylation.

The applicant is expected to undertake and develop European Research Council (ERC)-funded research projects and collaborate with other group members, contribute to other projects in the lab and assume responsibility for some aspects of general lab management. Opportunities will also arise for student mentoring. The position is initially funded for 3 years. The successful applicant will investigate the mechanism underlying sex-specific differences in the ability of pluripotent stem cells to correctly regulate patterns of DNA methylation.

The successfulcandidate must have or be in the process of submitting a PhD in a relevant biological science, and should have a proven record of completion of research projects by publishing in peer reviewed journals (atleast under revision). The candidate will be expected to work independently and should have significant experience in molecular biology, gene targeting andtissue culture. Experience with TALEN/CRISPR/Cas-based methods for genome engineering, retrovirus production and transduction is highly desirable. Outstanding candidates with strong publication records and expertise in other areas may also be considered.
