  • Training workshop “Epigenomics as a Discovery Tool in Current Biology”

    Thursday 19 September 2013 - Friday 20 September 2013

    Location:  IMB - Mainz, Germany

    IMB

We are pleased to invite you to EpiGeneSys-IMB training workshop "Epigenomics as a Discovery Tool in Current Biology"

The event is organised by Vijay Tiwari with the support of the EpiGeneSys TAB

    The workshop will:

    • provide an introduction to state-of-the-art experimental methods, computational analyses and applications of epigenomics technologies
    • feature three keynote lectures
    • include roundtable discussions on Gene Expression, Chromatin Modifications and Genome Organization as well as Proteomics in Epigenetics.

Background, focus of the workshop and importance to the field:

The epigenetic control of gene expression is increasingly recognized as a vital regulatory layer defining cell function and identity. New technological developments based upon next-generation sequencing are now enabling epigenetics researchers to address questions on a genome-wide basis and to elucidate general principles of epigenetic gene regulation. The next-generation sequencing approaches used range from mapping the DNA sequence (e.g. whole-genome-seq, exome sequencing) to profiling DNA methylation (e.g. bisulfite-seq) as well as chromatin accessibility (e.g. MNase-seq, DNase-seq, FAIRE-seq), chromatin organization (e.g. 4C-seq), the transcriptome (RNA-seq), transcription factor binding sites (ChIP-seq) and RNA-protein interactions (e.g. ChIRP-seq, CLIP-seq and variants). These approaches are generating systems-level data at an unprecedented scale and are therefore primed to fundamentally advance biomedical research. Through our workshop, we will provide participants with an introduction to state-of-the-art experimental methods, computational analyses and applications of epigenomics technologies.

Join us this December at the EpiGeneSys 3rd Annual Meeting in Cambridge! This major network event will be held at the Babraham Institute, with registration opening at 13:30 on December 4th. The meeting will close on December 6th at around the same time.
Don't miss this occasion to catch up with the latest EpiGeneSys research and to meet up and network with members of the EpiGeneSys community.

The programme will feature 7 scientific sessions, 3 keynote lectures, updates on EpiGeneSys activities, an accompanying art & science exhibition as well as a surprise conference dinner!

Participants will be staying in hotels in central Cambridge, a bus service to the meeting venue will be provided.

Places are limited, so register as soon as possible! We anticipate great interest, so for the time being places are limited to two participants per team. As usual, EpiGeneSys will bear the costs for meeting and accommodation, attendees are responsible for their travel arrangements and costs.
