Institut de recherche en Cancérologie, U896

Description

A three year post-doctoral position funded by the Inca, starting November 2013 is open in the team headed by Florence Cammas (Epigenetic, Cell Differentiation and Cancer) at IRCM, Montpellier, France (Institut de Recherche en Cancérologie de Montpellier).

Our recently constituted team is devoted at understanding the epigenetic mechanisms underlying cell fate decision and cancer progression through the functional and molecular characterization of the HP1 (Heterochomatin Protein 1) family of chromatin-associated proteins. These proteins are known to interact with many partners, but how these multiple complexes are regulated and how they modify chromatin dynamics within a full organism remains largely to be discovered. Our lab has generated unique and very valuable genetically modified cellular and mouse models to explore these questions. The successful candidate will be involved in the characterization of the impact that HP1 have on chromatin dynamics at specific genomic loci and in the comprehensive analysis of how this can be linked to cancer development.

Qualifications

The candidate should be highly motivated and have expertise in molecular and cellular biology particularly in chromatin associated technologies. Skills in handling of mouse models will be greatly appreciated.

Salary

2000 euros/month
