Description

Sahlgrenska Cancer Center (SCC) is a center within the University of Gothenburg with close proximity to the Sahlgrenska University hospital in Sweden. A postdoctoral fellowship is now available at SCC, in the Carén lab. The group works very closely with the hospitals in Gothenburg and use patient-derived cancer stem cell cultures from brain tumours and normal neural stems in the research. The presence of cancer stem cells in brain tumours is well-established but knowledge on how to target them therapeutically is still missing. The long-term goal of our research is to find more effective treatments with fewer side-effects.

Within the project you will be working with both experimental models and clinical samples. The project combines cell biology, genetic, epigenetic and molecular biology methods. As a postdoc you will conduct research within the project, summarise the results in publications and present research data at conferences.

Qualifications

We are looking for an ambitious and driven person with a PhD in a relevant subject who has a strong research background. The PhD degree should have been obtained less than five years ago. Highly meritorious is a documented knowledge in stem cell biology/tumour biology, practical experience in the cultivation of stem cells and cancer stem cell assays, experience in in vitro expansion of primary cells and cell lines and in vivo work. Desirable experience includes knowledge in large-scale genetic and epigenetic experimental methods (such as RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, methylation arrays), single-cell and cfDNA analyses. Excellent skills in written and spoken English and in communication of research are essential.

Application details

Please apply by sending CV with publications, a short personal letter, proof of completed PhD and two reference letters to:
