Institut Jacques Monod

Description

A one-year renewable Post-doctoral position is available in the Dumont group at the Institut Jacques Monod in Paris, France.
The lab studies the mechanisms of oocyte meiotic divisions in two powerful model systems: C. elegans and mice (Dumont & Desai; Trends in Cell Biology, 2012). We are particularly interested in the mechanisms of chromosome segregation in oocytes. The project proposed here aims at understanding how the chromosome segregation machinery is assembled and used in oocytes to physically
distribute meiotic chromosomes. We use a multidisciplinary approach with a combination of cell and molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry and cutting edge live-cell microscopy. Our lab is provided with a fully equipped cell biology, biochemistry and microscopy laboratory and is embedded in a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology or Biochemistry and have at least one first author publication in a peer-reviewed journal. We are seeking candidates with a strong background in C. elegans and/or mice cell biology. Expertise in biochemistry, genetics or electron microscopy methods would also be welcome. Initial funding is available but candidates are expected to apply for post-doctoral fellowships.

Salary

Salary will be according to CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) standards.

Application details

Please apply by sending your CV and publication list together with a motivation letter and contact details for at least 2 referees (including your Ph.D. advisor) to:
