Collaborative Project for PhDs and Postdoctoral researchers |
Applications are now being accepted from NoE, RISE1 and Associate Members for Open Collaborative Calls on a Small Scale. Applicants may be PhD students or Postdocs who would like to obtain a competitive scholarship for a research idea/project of their own (funded up to 10,000€) to be carried out in collaboration with another lab. At least two labs must be involved, and one must be a member of the EpiGeneSys Network of Excellence. Small-scale collaborative projects should focus on bringing together systems biology and epigenetics. A short 3-page research summary of the proposed project must include objectives, rationale and methodology, and highlight the originality, feasibility and potential impact of the project. Please note that it is imperative to clearly show both the epigenetics and systems biology angles of the research. A panel of reviewers from the network will evaluate proposals, with at least 1 application chosen per call. This is a great opportunity for budding scientists to try their hand at getting funding for their own mini-project. Young researchers will gain experience in finding a collaborative partner, developing an idea for an independent project, writing a proposal, and planning a budget. Additionally, the small-scale collaborative project can be included in resumes as a competitive application. Find an interview with our first awardee, Edda Schulz, here. Call opening date: Sept 24th, 2012
