Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics

Description

The host lab of Ritwick Sawarkar studies how epigenetic regulation controls protein-folding capacity of a cell. Chromatin modifications at genes encoding chaperones are cell-type-specific; consequently certain cell-types such as neurons have an altered chaperone profile. Could this be one of the reasons for sensitivity of neurons to protein misfolding diseases? If so, could we use epigenetic therapy for neurodegeneration? Join our international team in Freiburg to explore these exciting questions!

Qualifications
