Van Andel Research Institute’s Laboratory of Chromatin and Epigenetic Regulation has a position available for one Postdoctoral Fellow.
The Laboratory of Chromatin and Epigenetic Regulation is part of VARI’s Center for Epigenetics and led by Dr. Scott Rothbart. The lab studies basic molecular and cellular mechanisms controlling chromatin accessibility, interaction and function. We are particularly interested in understanding how histone post-translational modifications and DNA methylation function together in chromatin signaling.
This postdoctoral position is available as early as April 2015 for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who meets the qualifications and description outlined below.
While this project is currently funded, an integral part of postdoctoral training is the process of preparing a research proposal and writing a fellowship application. All VARI Postdoctoral Fellows are encouraged to apply for external funding as soon as it is practical and reasonable after hire.
A recent Ph.D. (or equivalent degree) with experience and strong first-author publication(s) in biochemistry, molecular and cell biology or related fields.
A driven and creative individual who takes responsibility for independent management of their project
An actively engaged lab citizen willing to share knowledge and expertise with team members and colleagues
A highly organized and detail-oriented scientist with strong written and oral communication skills
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Salary is based on Doctorate/MD receipt date according to a set stipend schedule, which begins at $42,000 up to a maximum of $50,000. Benefits include:
Medical, dental and vision coverage
Employer-sponsored life and AD&D insurance
Additional voluntary life and AD&D insurance for employees and dependents
Short-term and long-term disability insurance
Flexible-spending accounts for health and child/elder care
401 K retirement savings plans with employee/employer contributions
