CNRS/Institute of Human Genetics

Description

A postdoctoral position is available in the group “Meiosis and Recombination” (Bernard de Massy) at the Institute of Human Genetics, Montpellier.

Our group is interested in the mechanism and regulation of meiotic recombination using mouse as a model system and taking advantage of a large variety of experimental approaches.

The research project will be based on our recent discoveries of the evolutionary conservation of yeast Mei4 and Rec114, which are Spo11 accessory proteins required for meiotic DSB formation. This work raises many questions about the role of these proteins, their interplay with other factors and the role of chromosome organization. Ambitious and pioneering approaches at the molecular and cytological level will be developed to address these questions, using a combination of experimental strategies.

The Institute of Human Genetics is a modern and dynamic research institute located in the University and Hospital area in Montpellier, equipped with state of the art scientific facilities. The IGH generates an excellent scientific environment for high quality and intensive scientific life. External and internal seminars in the Institute are in English and our group meetings are in English as well.
Montpellier is one of the most lively and concentrated areas for research scientists in France.
