Advancing Epigenetics Towards Systems Biology

Computational biology of epigenetic repression

We search for a postdoctoral fellow to lead two parallel projects. The first project is a collaboration with the group of Ludvig Lizana at the Department of Physics, Umeå University which aims to produce a realistic computational model of histone H3 Lysine 27 methylation dynamics to uncover its role in Polycomb Group regulation. The second project aims to discover mutations in the regulatory region of the Cyclin D2 gene that will link its overexpression in cancer cells to the loss of epigenetic repression by Polycomb proteins.


An ideal candidate will have a PhD in natural sciences with strong quantitative background and interest in epigenetics. We are particularly interested in applicants with track record of modelling complex biological systems and running Monte Carlo simulations. The successful candidate needs good programming skills in e.g. python, C++, or Matlab. Expertise in computational analysis of genomic data or mining of cancer genomic databases is an advantage but training will be provided if necessary. All applicants should be able to communicate in English.


Initial appointment is for two years with a possibility of extension based on performance.
