Research Assistant in DNA damage and replication stress response (m/f)

The Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB) is a Centre of Excellence for Life Sciences, funded by the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation, and located at the campus of the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. Applications are invited for a research assistant position in the laboratory of Dr. Petra Beli. The successful applicant will contribute to the internationally competitive research on genome stability maintenance. The group employs an interdisciplinary approach, combining mass spectrometry-based proteomics, biochemistry, cell biology and genomics to elucidate protein components and mechanisms that regulate the cellular response to DNA damage both on the systems and on molecular level.

You will

  • Develop mass spectrometry-based proteomics methods to identify proteins involved in the DNA damage and replication stress response
  • Obtain hands on training in quantitative mass spectrometry-based proteomics
  • Work in a close cooperation with a team of experimental and computational biology scientists to facilitate novel discoveries
  • Have access to IMB core facilities
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners
  • Be part of a highly motivated and international research team

Required Qualifications

  • A Master degree in cell biology, biochemistry, or related areas
  • Knowledge of programing languages such as Python or R is a plus, but not a prerequisite for the position
  • Outstanding motivation and strong scientific enthusiasm
